World-leading chemist, Professor Kayode Adebowale emerges as UI VC


The  Pro-Chancellor and Chairman, Governing Council of the University of Ibadan (UI), John Odigie Oyegun, has announced Professor Kayode Adebowale as the new Vice Chancellor of the nation’s Premier University.  Inside OYO reports

Oyegun, made this announcement at a press conference held shortly after the council screen eight candidates shortlisted for the exalted position in the university.

The eight candidates who were shortlisted from the 15 aspirants were: Professor Adeyinka Aderinto, the acting Vice Chancellor Prof A.B Ekanola, Professor Hakeem Fawehinmi, Professor Ebenezer Olatunde Farounbi, Professor Babatunde Lawal Salako, Professor Kayode Adebowale, Professor Ganiyu Aderounmu and George Olusegun Ademowo.

Professor Kayode Adebowale, who was until this appointment, the current deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic), is the 13th Vice Chancellor of the university and he succeeds Professor Abel Idowu Olayinka, the 12th Vice Chancellor of the institution.
