Haemopoiesis Haemopoiesis is the production of the formed elements of blood. Haemopoietic tissues refer to the tissues that produce blood. The earliest haemopoietic tissue to develop is the yolk sac, which also functions in the transfer of yolk nutrients of the embryo. In the foetus, blood cells are produced by the bone marrow, liver, spleen and thymus. This changes during and after birth. The liver stops producing blood cells around the time of birth, while the spleen stops producing them soon after birth but continues to produce lymphocytes for life. From infancy onwards, all formed elements are produced in the red bone marrow. Lymphocytes are additionally produced in lymphoid tissues and organs widely distributed in the body, including the thymus, tonsils, lymph nodes, spleen and patches of lymphoid tissues in the intestine. Lagos communities to experience 6 hours outage – EKEDC

The management of Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) on Wednesday announced a six-hour planned outage in some communities in Badagry, Lagos State. The General Manager, Corporate Communications, EKEDC, Mr Godwin Idemudia, said in a statement, that the outage would start between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m on Saturday, Oct. 23. Idemudia said the outage was to allow the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) to effect maintenance of their equipment at Agbara 132/32 station. According to the general manager, the outage will affect customers in areas like Agbara Estate, Edu, Badagry, Mowo, Agemowo, Oke-Ira, Odan, Morogbo, Ijanikin, Era, Adaloko and environs. “We are, therefore, appealing to customers to bear with us, as supply will be restored as soon as these repairs are concluded. “EKEDC highly regrets any inconveniences caused by this outage,” Idemuda said. #EndSARS Memorial: Police disperse protesters at Lekki tollgate

The police in Lagos on Wednesday fired teargas canisters to disperse youth who held a procession in remembrance of the #EndSARS protest of October last year and the shooting of protesters at the Lekki tollgate. What began as a peaceful car procession to mark the first memorial of the Lekki shooting turned into a rowdy demonstration as the security operatives arrested more than five protesters. Among those arrested was a man armed with a machete and other harmful objects. Around 8:40 a.m., the protesters in various vehicles flooded the Lekki tollgate despite the heavy police presence holding on to the Nigerian flag while chanting #EndSARS and honking their horns. Two of the organisers, the Nigerian rapper, Folarin Falana, known as ‘Falz’, and a comedian, Adebowale Adedayo, popularly called ‘Mr Macaroni’ also lent their voices to the demonstration. Policemen believed to be from the Ogun State Police Command on Saturday, took over the Ake Palace Ground in Ake, Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, the venue of a parallel State congress of All Progressives Congress, APC, in the State. The Police who were seen at the venue of the parallel congress, believed to be  loyal to former Governor Ibikunle Amosun, locked up the gate to the Palace preventing party faithful from gaining access. Many people believed to have been mobilised for the parallel congress were seen loitering around the Palace, unable to enter the venue. The National Electoral Committee of the Alumni Association of Ogun state College of Health Technology, ilese had released the election guidelines for the forthcoming general election. According to the document made available, it was stated that both aspirant and electorate must be a financial member of the association of two years and one year respectively. It was added that the aspirants must be of good character and must not have questionable behavior with two alumnus referees. In addition, aspirant for the post of president must have graduated from the Institution at least ten (10) years, Vice Presidents, Secretary and Treasurer seven (7) years while other positions five (5) years.
